Context

The Community Cohesion Policy's General Regulation for 2007-2013 includes a strategic planning approach and ensures full compatibility of the Cohesion Policy with the National Strategies of each Member State.

In this regard, Italy has presented its National Strategic Reference Framework to the EU with the objective of allocating the resources provided by the Cohesion Policy to both northern-central and southern areas of Italy.

The drafting stage of the National Strategic Reference Framework 2007-2013 ended with its official adoption by the European Commission on 13 July 2007 and provides the starting point for its implementation through the Operational Programmes (documents defining the strategic priorities for sectors and territories).
