TraffiCO2 - Social network per la mobilita sostenibile

Code PON04a3_00451

TrafficO2 is a social innovation project conceived by a group of youths from Palermo for the development of sustainable urban mobility. The project aims to reduce traffic and pollution through the participation of citizens, local businesses, and sponsors, providing prizes in exchange for sustainable movement.

The users who sign up to the TrafficO2 service and commute into the city will gain more points based on the sustainability of their chosen mode of public transport and will win prizes put up for grabs by local businesses and sponsors.

The latter become TrafficO2 stations: points of departure and arrival by which users can plan their movements.

The experimental phase of the project will take place in Sicily involving 60,000 users from the University of Palermo who will adopt the TrafficO2 system to reduce traffic and pollution in the city.

The TrafficO2 system allows the user to plot on a map their point of departure and arrival and offers a comparison between the different types of transport chosen (on foot, by bicycle, car, scooter, public transport) based on time, distance, cost, and calories burned.

The more sustainable the transport chosen, the more points obtained.

Through their own personal profile, users will be able to visualise the points accumulated to be spent.

The application also allows the sharing of routes on social networks and offers fun quizzes and personalised games.
