Project Profile

The iBIKE project, presented by eight youths from Puglia, has the objective of distributing and promoting the use of electric bicycles through the creation of an integrated system, called "eSocialBike", capable of guaranteeing cyclists real time support and social network interaction.

The system, constituted by sensors and telecommunication devices, allows useful information sharing to monitor the state of the vehicle by simplifying the identification and resolution of the most common operational problems, and to make a network available where every cyclist user can become a witness and a spokesperson for sustainable mobility.

Following are the main elements of eSocialBike:

• Electronic device on board the bicycle to monitor battery health constantly.
• A smartphone application which dialogues via bluetooth with the vehicle and in case of necessity sends all the parameters necessary for diagnosis and evaluation of potential breakdown directly to the manufacturer or producer;
• A web application in which the producer can monitor in real time the health and ageing status of each vehicle.
• A social application through which the e-cyclist can interact with the network by sharing on facebook, twitter and a dedicated "green" social network the routes taken and the CO2 emissions saved daily.

These are just some of the characteristics of the system, presented in Bari last 24 April, focused on innovating the experience of the use of electric bicycles.
