Project Profile

The general aim of the project is the development of an ensemble of technological solutions oriented towards the intelligent evaluation of the cultural patrimony, material and immaterial, of the Campania region for the use of tourists, visitors and citizens, with respect to the principles of sustainability and eco-friendliness.

The ensemble of technological solutions and methodologies which will be employed (Streaming computing, Big Data, Business Analytics) are at the head of an intelligent complex architecture which, through the use of a platform, will permit the distribution of an ample range of integrated services.

The platform is developed in four main functional areas:

• DESIGN and PROMOTION of travel experiences based on user profiling.
• INFORMAZTION and USE for the tourist and the citizen. The information will not be available only in the planning phase, but rather follow the user dynamically, allowing him or her to modify pathways based on the status of the territory (e.g. excessive flow), weather conditions, local offers or particular events or the appreciation or lack of appreciation of the experience up to now.
• SALE and related payment for products and services.
• OPTIMISATION OF OPERATIONS AND BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE.

The platform is configured as a "decision support system" on three levels: for the user with the "user trip planner", for the operator (to manage cultural tourist products) and for the Administration which, by analysing the "use" data will be capable of "governing" tourist flow by planning and orienting products and/or services.

In the complex, five architectural levels are identified:

1. SENSING: allows the collection of data and information from structured and non-structured sources (from the availability of beds and cultural resources to typical offerings of a territory).
2. INFORMATION CREATION: allows the elaboration and interpretation of data according to a semantic model which makes informational value fully available.
3. DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS  for tourist, operator and Administration. In this field "motors" are developed for the generation of information supporting the following types of decisions.
4. WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT
   • a. Definition of "pathway" and its dynamic re-planning
   • b. Acquisition of "pathway" and variations
   • c. Emergency Management
   • d. Congestion management (operators and companies)
   • e. Compensation room (between companies)
   • f. Inclusion in tourist circuit (zero km companies)
5. BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE

• a. Analysis and Reporting (check effects of promotion, check profile of tourist flow and related spending on various services and products offered)
• b. Analysis of appreciation and elasticity of offer parameters
• c. Reputation analysis

The results of the project will also fall within the field of urban and maritime mobility, because the ICT platform will also include the development of ICT technologies and solutions aimed at improving the system of local info-mobility.

Regarding the activities performed up to now 30 deliverables have been produced and soon new products will be put in place which will be tested from October 2014.
