Description	This research proposal aims to to investigate new enabling technologies for the seafood industry and the development of innovative Nutraceutical Seafood with High Shelf Life. The proposal addresses the evolution of seafood products to the nutraceutical perspective through the whole production chain. The project is based on a market pull (demand driven) approach to research, aiming to maximize the industrial exploitation of research results. Activities will comprise both technologies specifically aimed to the creation of a vertically integrated supply chain for the 'Nutraceuticals Seafood Industry”, as: ¿ Nutraceutic Seafood (antioxidant, anticolerestolemica antiischemica antiipertrigliceridemia); ¿ Probiotics seafood ¿ Fermented seafood and technologies exploitable in the whole fish industry (traditional and nutraceuticals) as : ¿ New techniques for production of new "herbivore" fish-kind for sustainable aquaculture ¿ Innovative Technologies for antioxidant integrators for fish feeding ¿ Advanced seafood processing ¿ Special packaging technology to extend seafood shelf life All These technologies represent a breakthrough at international level both for fish products and functional foods or nutraceuticals. In fact, fresh-processed fish with extended shelf life are rare on seafood market at world level. Moreover there is not no way to find those products with specific/proved health claims. From the perspective of the functional foods market, although there are several supplements based on extracts of fish, functional "food" in the form of processed fish (fresh or fermented) are not exploited yet. The technologies covered in the proposal are at the leading edge in the world seafood technologies. In order to achieve these challenging goals, an industrial partnership comprises the most critical manufatcures of the fishing industry: feed testing and manufacturing companies, companies of fish production companies, processing companies and fish processing, industrial labs for nutraceutics. Besides the industrial partners, two research partners are placed: one with expertise in nutraceutics, food processing and packaging materials (Biagromed) and the other with expertise in feed production and in development of new techniques for aquaculture (UniBari).
