PIATTAFORME TECNOLOGICHE INNOVATIVE PER L’INGEGNERIA TISSUTALE

Description The project is fitting the purpose of designing and accomplishing innovative technological platforms based on the development of new biotechnological products, biomaterials, diagnostic procedures and devices to be used in regenerative medicine. The main fields of interest of these innovative products will include: orthopedics, cardiology, degenerative diseases of the central nervous system and endocrine-metabolic syndromes. The development of innovative technological platforms for tissue regeneration, in particular in the field of myocardial ischemia and of osteo-articular alterations, will be based on the study of: i. biomimetic systems (scaffolds) and biomedical devices producing physical stimuli to improve specific tissue repair and/or regeneration; ii) establishment of cell lines to produce tissue-specific cytokines and growth factors; iii) validation of new procedures to isolate, purify and maintain stem cell lines to be utilized in regenerative medicine; iv) validation of protocols based on the synergic activity of stem cells and growth factors for the regeneration of different tissue types; v) identification of new molecular targets for a combined treatment of osteoporosis; vi) validation of new diagnostic tests to detect early phases of the disease and to monitor the efficacy of the therapy. The Research Organizations included in the project will develop autonomous research lines that will be coordinated with those performed by the Industries; the fulfillment of the main objectives of the project will improve the technological knowledge of the Research Organizations and their competitiveness in the field of health, biomaterials, biotechnology and tissue ingeneering both at the national and international level. In this way they become qualified as a center of excellence that give life to a network assembling at Distretti Tecnologici. In this project are present numerous industries known in Italy and internationally that operate in the pharmaceutical, biomedical, and biomaterial sectors. These companies routinely perform activity in research and development in the areas they operate. All the activities of research proposed in the project are oriented to the acquisition of knowledge for the realization of novel drugs, industrial processing, preclinical models and diagnostic systems in the sector of regenerative medicine.
