Description The project deals with coastal erosion phenomenon. The “contrast “ between human activities and ecosystems equilibrium is a very complex problems along sea coast. This has a lot of implication as many problems and difficulties in social and economic fields arise. This is true especially for Italy but mainly for seasonal tourism regions based. Coastal erosion evolves more speeded than the commercial solution that can solve it and this penalizes tourist activities and people living in. Coasts and their erosion represents a sustainable development level indicator for the actual life. They gives a precise sharp idea on ongoing and future development level. It is necessary both developing an effective “forecast method for beach erosion evolution”, that depends on environmental, natural or human stressing, as prevention action and both an “existing coastal erosion problems solution method” precise actions. Till now the problem was solved as a local solution, “working on emergence – following erosion developing” and generally the effect is move the problem to the next adjacent coastal beach. The product release in this project ill be a Decision Support System. Modern and advanced information technologies, regarding territory analysis and business intelligence will be adopted in order to support decision makers on two main strategic decisional levels: 1. Prevention and support level: in order to allow the plan of infrastructural interventions by P.A. And by private companies. This level is service oriented allowing the suggestion of a valid low environmental impact intervention to attenuate and /or contrast coastal erosion in a well established environmental equilibrium sites. 2. Support and study level: for P.A., this is service oriented to analyze the situation and supports the actions evaluation phase in attenuating and /or contrasting coastal erosion depending on human and natural stressing condition in environmental dis-equilibrium sites Both systems will use numerical simulation advanced codes characterizing real .meteo-marine and physio-graphic local conditions. Their introduction is very important to correctly evaluate the effectiveness of several solutions. Numerical model output will be synthesized in both systems through appropriate typological indicator. Both decisional levels are implemented, in the SSD, by means of two distinct modules (software + data) allowing their composition too. The proposed SSD will be scalable depending on decisional levels availability. Due to the modularity of the system it will be expansible with further databases and analysis objectives. The final product could be used and sold as standalone sub-components. Due to the described characteristics above it is and original and new tool. The application market LLARE) is “seasonal tourism” and it represents a huge amount of the national PIL. In order to have an idea on the economical impact it has we can refer to the Italian wonderful beach and how much this application domain is competitive both for a “natural beach Italian beauty” and both for related tourism services offered. So coastal erosion is a threat to manage and from which protect beaches in an effective way beach adopting low environmental impact solutions. All this is a critical point in order to guarantee a development to the whole and very important Italian economic industry especially for southern regions based on and its consequent social impact.
