Customer organisations are by now almost full of Information Technology equipments, applications and Data Bases. The real priorities perceived by the Market, in this phase of economic downturn, are essentially bound to these three main needs:
• To provide services immediately useful to Organisations Business;
• To make more effective and efficient the process of IT transformation towards a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for Business Logic and corporate Data and Information Bases, also not structured and multimedia based.
• To reduce IT management operational costs, through the industrialisation and the rationalisation of the IT Governance processes.
FRAME project intends to obtain a framework based on methodologies, tecniques and innovative services, that - through the integration and the specialisation of tecniques and tools of Data Integration, data, text and process Mining, Ontology management, Inference engines and Business Process Management – addresses the above mentioned needs. FRAME is based on a flexible and modular architecture based on the following application layers:
• A virtualisation Layer for information structures Sources – mainly based on semantic induction/deduction – enabling the retrieval of important indicators to support decision processes
• A layer to compose and manage basic granularity services, to generate more complex services, according to SOA principles, aggregated and managed with an Intelligent Workflow.
• A component specialised for Advanced IT Governance. This component will be an open and expansible system, able to incorporate the principles of ITIL Best Practices and, also through inductive/deductive techniques for Reasoning and Diagnostics, will allow to automatically support the Problem Solving process and the pro-active monitoring of complex IT systems also dedicated to Digital Content distribution.
• A component specialized for Digital Assets life-cycle management. This component will mainly be able to address the tagging and meta-dating activities, also with the help of advanced technologies like image recognition in video “key-frames”.
Telco Providers is one of the key addressed market segments, because the project will define innovative methods and techniques, as well the definition of a software platform that will allow IT organizations to adapt themselves to the new scenarios represented by the exponential growth of the IP-based traffic, towards the traditional Voice services.
Furthermore the project will consider the issues coming from the convergence towards the IP-based world of Media market players, mainly Broadcasters, that, with the switch-off to Digital TV, are going to adapt their own business models and, consequently, their service Providing models toward and IP-based paradigm that will necessarily impact on Telecommunication Networks and to the related IT Management systems.
The project is characterized by not only the discovery of new techniques that, after the engineering phase, will bring on the market some new Tools, but mostly by the focus on the formalization of new Methodologies, derived from concrete cases and best practices observed in complex customer environments, belonging just to Telco & Media market segment, where SIS, coordinating partner, has a strong positioning and experience.
